LED Lights: Helping you make the technical decisions around brightness and color selection.

LED Lights: Helping you make the technical decisions around brightness and color selection.

Here’s your step by step guide:

  1. Select the LED light for your room based on budget and aesthetic.
  2. Before you complete your purchase, consider how the LED light is functioning in the room.  For example, is the LED light being used to add ambient light to your room – such as a wall sconce – or is it the LED light being used to add efficiency to tasks, such as an undercabinet light?
  3. Once you make this determination, you’ll want to refer to CRI and lumens on your LED light to verify you are making the right light selection to achieve your desired results.

  1. Lumens: Brightness is described through LUMENS.  The higher the lumen level, the brighter the LED light source.  You’ll want a higher lumen selection when picking out task lighting, and a lower lumen number when choosing ambient or accent lighting.
  2. CRI – color rendering index – measures the color of your LED light.  Color is important because it helps you achieve the emotional vibration in a space.  The higher the CRI, the whiter the light.  The lower the CRI, the warmer the light.  Our recommendations are a higher CRI for medical spaces and parking garages.  In contrast, we recommend a lower CRI for hotel rooms.
