Illinois CFL Lighting Ban
As of January 1, 2026, the State of Illinois has enacted a new law banning the sale and distribution of screw-base and bayonet-base compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs. This legislation (House Bill 2363) reflects a growing shift away from fluorescent lighting due to environmental concerns, particularly the presence of mercury and the high rate of improper disposal. Additional restrictions on pin-base CFLs and linear fluorescent lamps are scheduled to take effect in 2027.
At EverLights, we understand that regulatory changes like this can raise questions around compliance, cost, and logistics, especially for municipalities, contractors, facility managers, and large organizations managing existing infrastructure. Our role is to make this transition as seamless and practical as possible.
